Step-by-step: how to Prestige

1. Finish a clean farm block — do not Prestige mid-tilt after five Breach wipes.
2. Open the Prestige / progression panel in your current build and read the cost and stated benefit.
3. Confirm you will still have a playable kit — if the patch mixes Prestige with other resets, know what you keep (DNA, Jaegers, equipment). Alpha UI should tell you; if unclear, ask in Tragic Works Discord via Discord Community.
4. Spend the coins and note your new baseline feel on a familiar map.

• First Prestige often feels larger because you finally stop being paper.
• Later Prestiges feel smoother if DNA kept pace.

Best time to Prestige for each player type

New pilots

Prestige after you can clear city maps and survive equipment mismanagement less often. Do not Prestige as a reward for finishing Prologue alone.

Returning alpha testers

If you already know controls, Prestige as soon as coins hit the threshold and your main Jaeger feels intentional — Cherno Alpha, November Ajax, Obsidian Fury, Saber Athena, Apex, or Midnight Winter.

Boss specialists

If you are stuck on Leatherback or Slattern, Prestige helps, but pattern knowledge helps more. Combine a Prestige with a week of boss drills.

What to do with coins instead (sometimes)

Occasionally you should delay Prestige:

• You are one DNA breakpoint away from surviving grabs (pair with Mag Lock Anchors / Titanium Ribbing thinking).
• You still have not learned a single equipment timing window.
• A patch note hints at Prestige cost changes in the next day — rare, but alpha happens.

Otherwise, sitting on 20k coins “just in case codes drop” is wasted thinking. Codes are not a system here.

Prestige and Jaeger identity

Permanent stats amplify whatever you already do:

• Cherno Alpha — Prestige makes committed swings less suicidal when ribbing/stabilizers are online.
• Saber Athena / Obsidian Fury — percent damage matters more once dodges are clean.
• Apex / Midnight Winter — Prestige rewards players who already spend equipment correctly.
• November Ajax — excellent first Prestige platform while you learn maps.

After Prestige, do not instantly swap Jaegers. Take two sessions to feel the new baseline.

Prestige mistakes that burn hours

1. Prestige mid-experiment — you swapped three weapons and cannot tell what changed.
2. Ignoring DNA — permanent percent on zero upgrades.
3. Boss tunnel vision — wiping on Mega Kaiju for coins instead of farming a clearable map.
4. No post-Prestige plan — logging off without testing the new power curve.
5. Believing a code will refund you — it will not; see Codes.

Sample coin routes into Prestige

Safe route (recommended)

1. Farm DNA + coins on maps you clear 80%+ of the time.
2. Buy survival DNA / perk-aligned upgrades.
3. Bank to ~5000.
4. Prestige.
5. Return to the same maps to measure faster clears.

Aggressive route

1. Push higher maps for denser rewards.
2. Accept more wipes.
3. Prestige earlier if you already have mechanical skill from prior alpha sessions.

Only use the aggressive route if Combat Controls already feel automatic.

After Prestige: 30-minute validation

• 10 min: familiar map, no hero plays — are kills cleaner?
• 10 min: equipment discipline check — do you still waste Air Strike?
• 10 min: one boss pattern rehearsal — did the percent help you reach the next phase?

Write one sentence of outcome. If nothing felt different, your limiter is skill or DNA, not Prestige count.
